I am a PhD student in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, based at The Queen's College. I also work as a Research Assistant at the Nuffield Politics Research Centre, and I am teaching tutorials and delivering lectures for the Politics of the EU, Politics in Europe, and Comparative Government papers.

My research focuses on the behaviour of political elites, particularly elected representatives. In the first paper of my dissertation, I investigate how increased transparency affects legislators’ extra-parliamentary behaviour. The paper is based on a novel dataset of German state MPs’ disclosed interests.

More broadly, I am interested in questions of legislative and elite behaviour, transparency and accountability, political careers, revolving door dynamics, and German and EU politics.

In my most recent working paper, I explore public perceptions of legislative moonlighting and how MPs' pursuit of side jobs affects citizens' trust in their elected representatives. Drawing on a large-scale conjoint experiment and a novel benchmarking survey, both focused on the UK, I find that the trust effects of disclosure depend heavily on what is disclosed and on what citizens already believe. I graduated at the top of my class from the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc in European and International Public Policy) and hold a BA in Political Science and Public Law from Heidelberg University. [You can find a copy of my CV here.]

As a quantitative researcher, I primarily use econometrics to test my hypotheses and am currently developing my expertise in causal inference to integrate these methods into my work. I also employ computational techniques (mainly web scraping and APIs) for data collection. I have previously worked as a research and teaching assistant at several academic institutions, including the Institute of Political Science at Heidelberg University and the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research. During the gap year between my Master’s and PhD, I gained professional experience as a lobbyist at a Berlin-based political consultancy.
